VAC's initial release was with Counter-Strike in 2002. Valve started working on a "long-term solution" for cheating in 2001. Valve had also rejected business offers of integrating the technology directly into their games.

In 2001, Even Balance Inc., the developers of the anti-cheat software PunkBuster designed for Counter-Strike and Half-Life mods, stopped supporting the games as they had no support from Valve. ĭuring the month of December 2018 over 600,000 accounts were banned. After the player is notified, access to online "VAC protected" servers of the game the player cheated in is permanently revoked and additional restrictions are applied to the player's Steam account.ĭuring one week of November 2006, the system detected over 10,000 cheating attempts. No information such as date of detection or type of cheat detected is disclosed to the player. It may kick players from the game if it detects errors in their system's memory or hardware.
When the software detects a cheat on a player's system, it will ban them in the future, possibly days or weeks after the original detection. Some people are pretty attached to their game and I assume they will only act if a negative spotlight like that is on them.Valve Anti-Cheat ( VAC) is an anti-cheat software product developed by Valve as a component of the Steam platform, first released with Counter-Strike in 2002. maybe they will finally act is someone kills themself or something. It certainly isn't fair and has caused a great deal of anxiety. Even if I get a new account, I won't get my prime tier back, and can't play other games that I paid for simple because I am punished for being a victim of hacking. They don't care once you have paid them money, and yes, CS:GO used to cost money. When I asked them why not, they threatened to close any more requests to help with it. I asked them about it and they said they couldn't do anything. The second time they did it, they deleted all my emails from steam and by the time I got access to the account again, they had cheated and a few days after I got ym account back, a game ban came up, then a vac ban. What I didn't know is that the hacker had turned something called email forwarding on in the settings while they had control. I had my account hacked and stolen last year, but was able to get it back with no ill effect. I had used steam since the half life 2 days and loved playing CS:GO despite being pretty bad at it. It's not only a possibility, but happens all the time. If anyone has an insider at Valve that can help look into this I can share more specific detail about my account for an investigation.

When/If my false positive is removed, I will post an update here.
I wish I could play CSGO if I wanted, but sometimes luck just isn't on our side.
#Cs go vac ban remover Patch#
Valorant got a hotfix for the patch issues and I can play again, so that's good news. For folks not believing me, I completely understand why you would think that, but I hope that you never run into this situation because it's very frustrating.
Last edit: thanks to all the folks giving support. I guess I'm just looking for some hope that there have been others in my situation who got their false positive overturned quickly. It's incredibly depressing and frustrating, I feel helpless and betrayed by a company I've supported for over a decade. I've been doing research and so far have opened a support ticket but understand how fucked I am right now. I quit after those two games and logged in a few days later after moving to find that I am VAC banned. I played two games of unrated on my 10+ year Steam account to try to get into CS:GO while Valorant is still bugged and unplayable. I did not cheat but I do understand that you will go with the likely conclusion that represents the truth to 90% of these posts - cheaters crying after being banned. I understand the scrutiny you must have for me reading this.
